Composite stainless steel and tungsten points
Available in point weights of 100 ; 110 ; 120 & 130 grains - £6.60 each
Each set or batch of points is match ground to weight to a tolerance of plus/minus 0.1 of a grain.
Sets will be shipped with a batch number that will allow us to exactly match additional points to the original batch weight.
Design Concept
The point is constructed of a stainless steel bullet bonded to a tungsten shank. The bullet section is 10 mm in length, the same as our other point designs to minimise the possible bending moment on the very small diameter shank of the X10. Due to the small bullet, the shank has to carry most of the weight of the point. If the shank was made in stainless steel it would be very long, and would affect the spine of the arrow. Tungsten is very dense, making possible a shorter shank, as you can see from the pictorial comparison to the left, of one of our Cartel 800 spine points of 100 grains compared to an X10 point of 120 grain. Conversely it is necessary to have a shank length long enough to give good support in the arrow and an adequate bonding surface area. This is why the bullet is made of stainless steel, if it was made from tungsten the shank would become too short to give good support in the arrow.
